A Lab Supply Sourcing team was formed in August 2011 to focus on analyzing the current spending patterns, researching options, and developing standards to negotiate better pricing in this difficult economic climate. The Sourcing Team, comprised of UConn faculty and staff from the Storrs, Regional Campuses and UCHC, has been focusing on ways to possibly reduce the University’s annual spend of over $3.6 million on lab supplies alone.
We understand that each area of research is unique, and not all products will work the same for everyone. The Sourcing Team undertook this initiative knowing this would not be an easy task. To help reach the goal of reducing expenditures by at least $300,000 a year, negotiations have been underway with several of the University’s lab supply vendors in an effort to continue to provide the University community with the highest quality goods at the lowest possible price.
UConn's Partners in this initiative are:
Fisher Scientific - Now offers an additional discount off already low pricing.
Corning - New reduced price listing.
